Jetaudio iaudio 51/22/2024 It's a relatively flat sounding DAC so you get no shape in sound. Past phones with good DAC? HTC 10, Note 5 and S6 (Same DAC as note 5).Ĭompared to the others, the DAC delivers. Have the axon 7 and am had a little listening session last night. In any case, Poweramp alpha sounds great whatever it's using, but so does Jet. I'm not going to chase this at all but probably continue with Jet as my main music player until Poweramp is stable at more than 16 bit, but at 24 bit it's likely just using the SD820, not the AKM DAC unless the DAC is transparent to the app and the OS controls it via the super audio switch? I assume it simply upscales and the 32 bits are headroom for plenty of processing capability. Nothing to do with files, all about the app as long as the phone will support it. I had a look with Jet Audio whilst playing a regular mp3, even a low bit rate file at 44.1KHz is output at 32 bit with HRA turned on. I'd like to try a decent EQ app and just use stock player even.Ītmos has no real fine control of sound and the low end is still too high for good drums, still extends up to mid bass. V4A requires permissive system so not going there this time. Not in a hurry to reduce device security on this one. The settings between seem to match pretty well. I like to use them to set my EQ because I have the better tweeters in the car and subs. Pretty chunky units, quite long and 13.5mm drivers. It would be harder to pick between the apps with headphones that have less high end response than the Philips buds. I feel it needs to process less to do the job. It also gets that punchy bass I want without even having an extra bass boost setting like some others. Poweramp manages not to sound brittle on the high end but still have a good stage with plenty of detail. I'm left with Poweramp and Jet Audio again. Stellio was next uninstalled, then Player Pro. I used my Philips buds for this as they have a very full range performance, big bass, lots of presence through the midrange and plenty of treble but they can easily sound brittle with settings wrong and some apps are naturally more pronounced with this. I listened back and forth between all the apps and to be honest, I could use any of them although Neutron was next for uninstall as it doesn't manage the gutsy bass I like as well as other apps. The first uninstalled was Onkyo due to annoying adds and problems with music library compared to all others. I had installed Poweramp, Neutron, Player Pro, Stellio, Jet Audio and Onkyo. Been trying a bunch of apps for comparison again.
